Opening Day (Take Two) is Saturday, December 14, 2013!

Mother Nature may have thrown a wrench in our previous plans, but we are back with a vengeance! (And, a whole lot of snow!)

Brimacombe will officially open for the 2013/14 ski and snowboard season beginning Saturday, December 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m!

This will still be our earliest opening day in several years, thanks to great weather conditions, the hard work of the maintenance and snowmaking teams and our newly expanded snowmaking pond!

And, better yet, all lift tickets will be only $22+hst until further notice.

Both Bambi and Standard trails will be open, as well as hike-access to the Piggy Bank Terrain Park, but stay tuned and watch for new trails opening very soon!

We are currently making snow on Snow Bowl, Ladies' Downhill and in the Vault Terrain Park…plus building up the top and the base to access the Bowl Chair.

Opening Day Delayed a Week

We're disappointed to announce that Brimacombe's opening day will be delayed one week until Saturday, December 14.
After making the announcement last Friday night that we intended to open Saturday, December 7, the forecast took the fateful turn in the wrong direction and quashed any hopes of making snow this week. Had the rain not happened (and continued to happen) and/or the temperatures dropped low enough to make snow, it could have been different, but Mother Nature has not played nice
While the slopes remain white in some areas, we simply don't have the complete snow coverage we need to spread and groom to get us open this weekend; however, the forecast for the upcoming week is looking great for snowmaking and we plan to crank the guns into high gear as soon as temperatures drop low enough.

Our sights are now set on Saturday, December 14 at 9:00 a.m. We hope to see you here!

Brimacombe's Earliest Opening Day in over a Decade

UPDATE!
PLEASE NOTE, BRIMACOMBE WILL NOT BE OPENING AS PLANNED. DUE TO WEATHER AND SNOW CONDITIONS, OUR OPENING DAY HAS BEEN DELAYED ONE WEEK UNTIL SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14.

It's official!

This will be our earliest opening day in 11 years, thanks to better than expected weather conditions, the hard work of the maintenance and snowmaking teams and our newly expanded snowmaking pond!

And, better yet, all lift tickets will be only $22+hst until further notice.

We are currently planning to have both Bambi and Standard trails open, as well as hike-access to the Piggy Bank Terrain Park, but we encourage you to stay tuned for more updates as we continue to blow snow.

We are currently making snow on both Standard and Bambi runs, as well as the Piggy Bank and the Vault Terrain Parks…plus building up the top and the base to access and the Boulevard and Main Street lifts.

Our first five days of operation will be as follows:

Snowmaking in progress!

The title of this post says it all...SNOWMAKING HAS BEGUN!

After running a couple tests on our snowmaking system last week, we officially cranked the snow guns into high gear on Wednesday, November 27, as soon as the temperatures dropped low enough. Combined with an awesome natural snowfall Tuesday night, we are looking at possibly our best early snowmaking in years!

To good to be true? No way!

The last couple seasons may have been slow to start, but this season is looking better than ever! In fact, several ski areas are lucky enough to be opening this weekend and Brimacombe and the rest will not be far behind.

While the physical location of each resort plays an important role in how much natural snow we receive and how much snow we are are able to make, we are happy to report that last night's snowmaking was more productive than expected!

Translation? When we showed up this morning, there was waay more snow than we expected! All thanks to the cold temperatures overnight and our snowmakers' hard work!

The million dollar question...

"When will you open?" is by far the number one question we hear each day, followed by "What runs will you open first?" And while we don't have an answer to either question at this exact moment, we will have a much better idea by the end of the day today!

Stay tuned for an opening day announcement tonight at 7:00 p.m!

Until then, you can find a sampling of some of the great snowmaking shots we've taken over the past week.
