BRIMACOMBE WILL OPEN DECEMBER 13, 2014!

Have you heard? It's official!

Brimacombe will be open for the 2014/15 season on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m - weather and snow conditions permitting, of course!

And, better yet, all daily lift tickets will be only $22+HST during opening weekend.

While we don't know exactly what runs will be open yet, we can tell you where we are currently focusing our snowmaking activities on a large number of runs...
  • Park Ave
  • Pete's Elbow
  • Snow Bowl
  • Piggy Bank
  • The Vault
  • Standard
  • Bambi
  • Ladies' Downhill
  • Flyer
  • Clubhouse
Thanks to our recent purchase of 22 new Rubis Evo Ultra Low Energy snowmaking guns, as well as all the demo equipment we bought after last season, we are now able to make more snow than ever before. So as long as Mother Nature keeps offering us some colder temperatures the guns will be blasting.

The 22 new Rubis Evo Ultra Low Energy snowmaking guns upon arrival at Brimacombe.

Make sure to check the Brimacombe website beginning early next week when we'll start announcing exactly what runs will be opening!

Until then, here are the first three days of operation (weather and snow conditions permitting) to mark on your calendars:

Saturday, December 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, December 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, December 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Bitter sweet, that's all folks.

Today is always a bitter sweet day for me. It's nice to be turning the page on another great season here at Brimacombe but I am also sad that it is over. This has been one of the best weather years that I can remember, sure we were challenged at the beginning with a major ice storm shutting us down for a weekend just prior to Christmas and we had a high number of bitterly cold days, but we also had record snowfalls and sun producing many spectacular "blue bird" days on the slopes. We ran 87 operational days this year that's 12 more than last year and we are closing on the same weekend. The decision to close was once again made based on the numbers of members and guests we have been seeing out the last three weeks rather than snow conditions...we still have loads of snow however the bulk of our membership has spoken through their attendance -people have had enough. That said today was a stellar day, great attendance, loads of sunshine and my favorite event of the season..the Puddle Jump. Its great to end on a high note and I want to personally thank all of you for being a part of a season that we will talk about for many many years.

We took thousands of photos today at the puddle jump and will be uploading a bunch of them to our Facebook page today and over the next few days. I'll share a few with you here in the blog;

If you have any pictures or videos would like to share with us we would love to see them...especially GoPro videos. By sending these photos you are giving us permission to publish or use them online, in our publications or through other ways of sharing.

I'd like to thank our Management team and staff (over 350 of them!) for all of their hard work and dedication this season....You all rock, you are the face of Brimacombe!

As I hear "Last ride" being called over the radio's for the very last time this season, all I can think to write is "It's been another great season in paradise",

Cheers,

Mark

The SUN is a little warmer

It's about providing the opportunity, not taking the opportunity,
It's about the response we get when we ask someone how their day has been,
It's about the sounds of laughter and animated conversation filling the chalet over lunch,
It's about the look on a child's face when they take their first run, or first ride up a chairlift,
It's about the names and faces we collect in our memories each year,
It's about the people.

We have truly been blessed this season -ample snow, higher than average days of clear blue sky, perfect snow conditions in spite of some less than perfect weather events and a fantastic number of visitors to our slopes. March break this year resembled the march breaks of 20 years ago and included a healthy percentage of brand new skiers and snowboarders. I took some time the other day and stood at the bottom of the Main Street chair talking to people. If there is any single reward to our work out here it is the reward of hearing people rave about their day with us. To hear people who have never skied or snowboarded...or have not done it in decades say "We WILL be back" shows us that we have done our job.

If you weren't at Brimacombe this March Break, here's a look at what you missed.
