Looks like a chilly weekend ahead, but that's no reason to stay inside! Dress appropriately! Be sure to dress in layers that can be easily removed if you get too warm, cover all exposed skin and bring a pair of quality ski socks to change into once you arrive at the hill. Winter is a short season, MAKE THE BEST OF IT AT THE BRIM!

See you on the slopes,

Cheers,

Have a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Brimacombe wish you a safe and Happy New Year!

The forecast is looking a little weak for tomorrow, please check the website or call the Snow line (905)983-SNOW (7669) before heading out to the hill to ensure we will be open. The weather guessers had called for rain today, but so far nothing has materialized. It appears that winter will make its return on Sunday.

What will rain do to us? Rain certainly has an effect on the slopes, but not to the extent you may think. Park Avenue has been open on "natural" snow only, the base was not that deep to begin with and today's mild temperature has taken it's toll already, we have closed that run due to thin spots and any rain tomorrow will not help. The rest of our terrain has good coverage of man made snow with a good base depth. Man made snow is more resilient to the effects of rain, it filters water better resulting in less loss. By Sunday when the temperatures have dropped, you will likely notice no difference to the snow surface on our trails, our groomers will have it in fine form. Please remind your friends in town, that even though they might not have snow on their front lawns...we at Brimacombe still has lots on ours!

Looking DOWN the Standard run.

Looking UP the Standard run (note: what looks like faint brown spots on the east side of the run is chalk marker from yesterdays time trials)

Weather wise, things are looking good for the week ahead. Snowmaking should go back into production soon allowing us to continue to open more skiable terrain!

Our REGULAR SEASON OPERATIONAL HOURS begin on Sunday January 2, 2011

The holidays are beginning to wrap up, but please note due to the offset of some school board Christmas break periods;

WE WILL BE OPEN MONDAY, JANUARY 3, 2011 FOR DAY SKIING 9am to 4:30

So, that does it for 2010....2011, BRING IT ON!

It's been another YEAR in paradise,

Cheers,

Mark

TELL A FRIEND...THE SNOW IS GREAT!

The "question of the day" while running errands in town today....

1. So, do you guys have any snow left?

One of our toughest challenges as a ski and snowboarding facility is to convince people that even though there is no snow in town...we still have great conditions here at Brimacombe. The forecast for this weekend will not help either, but rest assured we will still have plenty of quality snow for the March break and beyond, we always run out of skiers and snowboarders before we run out of snow.

Help us spread the word, tell your friends, neighbours, classmates, co-workers, and random people on the streets...or even change your Facebook profile to read...THE SNOW IS GREAT AT BRIMACOMBE....SPEND SOME TIME ON THE SLOPES!

Speaking of the forecast ahead, please be sure to check our website or snow line 905-983-7669 before heading out to the slopes to ensure we are open (We will be closed if it rains).

If the weather forces us to close over the weekend, our Saturday Night Fever Rail Jam Series Finale will also be cancelled. Scores from the previous two events will calculate the series winners and we will announce the top results on our website www.brimacombe.ca

Beginning March 13, 2010 our Operational Hours will be changing.
Weather permitting we will be open...

Slope and STYLE

We had a lot of fun out here at the Brim today!

Retro day was RADICAL! A ton of people dressed the part by pulling their old attire out of the depths of their closets...or visiting the thrift stores. It must be a sign that I'm starting to age...I remember when the majority of this "retro" clothing was in style. :)
Our Annual slopestyle competition drew a large crowd as well. The competitors put on a fabulous show of talent for the judges and spectators.

Only pictures can tell today's story...so here they are.

Punk rocker!

Shock rocker

The MIGHTY Mullet!

Kelly is glowing....

Reiner Red...who remembers these days of the Ski Patrol?

Ryan was digging in his DAD'S closet for this one...

Andrew M. was just a little too comfortable in his costume today.

RACE DAY on T-bar 2!

Mac Attack, Alice Cooper and Work Out Wendy...

Louis B. on his 215cm "retro" telemark skis

Doug B. dressed to impress!

Following in his father's footsteps...Brandon fits Terry's old liftee coveralls just fine!

From RETRO style...to SLOPESTYLE, here's some action shots of today's event.

Join us tomorrow for...

Another day in Paradise.
Cheers,
Mark
