CRISP AIR and BLUE SKIES

What a day to be a skier or snowboarder! The sun was shining on pure white snow...and smiles spread across the faces of everyone enjoying the cool crisp outdoor air. We are expecting a dusting of new snow overnight followed by another STELLAR day at the Brim.

As you will see in the schedule below the season is winding down, plan some time to get in your last days on the slopes for the 2012-2013 season. For the weekend of March 16th and 17th the West Chalet will be open (weather permitting) for ticket sales, restrooms and lounge use only, there will be no cafeteria services available (The East Chalet food services will be open through to the end of the season). Soft drinks will be available in the West Chalet from the vending machine on the lower level. We will operate the Mainstreet Chair, Bowl Chair and West Chair to service runs from Park Avenue to Clubhouse run (minus Cow Path, and Kids Stuff) weather and conditions permitting (Rutherford's Cut, Challenger and Whistler are 100% natural snow and will only be open if adequate coverage permits). All "Night Pass" types will be accepted on Saturday March 16th from 4:30pm to 10pm and Wednesday March 20th from 4:30pm to 10pm.

Stay tuned to this Blog or our website for the most up to date operational information as we wrap up the season here at Brimacombe.

BRIMACOMBE is pleased to be taking part in a pilot safety initiative called PACE PENGUIN.

The objective of this program is to help reduce the risk of injury to young children in downhill sports by educating children, parents and fellow skiers/snowboarders.

This program is designed to not only address several of the known risk factors for children, but contribute to an overall positive experience for families. Early research indicates the PACE program has outstanding positive influence on parents’ resort selection. By helping children to have a safe and fun experience, we hope that today’s "little penguins" will grow into safe, dedicated life-long skiers and snowboarders, who will in turn, introduce their children to downhill sports.

Keep an eye out for the little Penguin's on the slopes!

A special THANK-YOU to the Brimacombe Volunteer Ski Patrol for their assistance in implementing this program.

MARCH 16th 2013

After SNOWSMART was successfully introduced to five pilot ski hills across Canada in December, including Brimacombe, we're bringing it back by popular demand for another day during March break. Parachute has partnered with Canadian Ski Patrol and Snowboard Canada on this education campaign that tackles three risky behaviours: excessive speed, loss of control and collisions with people or objects.
The SNOWSMART team will visit Brimacombe on March 16th for another round of snow sport safety awareness. Last time, we gave out hundreds of prizes such as candies and postcards to young people caught skiing in control, through our Get Caught initiative rewarding safe skiers and snowboarders. This time, we will be handing out candies and lip balm to skiers and snowboarders taking smart risks/decisions on the hills. This follows Snowboard Ontario’s Riders event on March 15th, an intro to competitive snowboarding that has aSNOWSMART twist.

We're also reminding skiers and boarders they have until the end of the month to get their videos in to the public service announcement competition. The SNOWSMART multimedia competition is open to all Canadians. Entrants are asked to create a short snow sport safety PSA that highlights at least one of the SNOWMSART key messages for their chance to win cash prizes. The deadline for submissions is March 17, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

For more details on the campaign and multimedia competition,
