March Break Fun!

March Break is in full swing....How have your decided to spend your week? If you haven't penciled "Ski at the Brim" into your calendar it's not too late! The conditions are FANTASTIC and the weather looks great right through the weekend!

Our March Break Ski Camp has been a success at converting kids to "Skiers" and "Snowboarders"...by all accounts the kids are having a BLAST...even in the rain we saw on Monday!

A proud father moment for me...Avery rippin' up the Standard run on her second official ski day "off harness".

Skiing at Brimacombe has always been about families and I had the opportunity to spend some valuable time enjoying the slopes with some members of mine today.

Avery, "Aunt Ali" and nephew Oliver are all smiles.

After 35 years off skis "Grandpa Ken" took to the slopes with the grand kids...Sarah and Avery gave him pointers.

PACE PENGUIN

If you are 8 years of age or younger
(or you are a parent that has kids that age)
stop by any ticket office or our Main Office in the East Chalet and pick up your PACE PENGUIN safety package for FREE!

BRIMACOMBE is pleased to be taking part in a pilot safety initiative called PACE PENGUIN.

The objective of this program is to help reduce the risk of injury to young children in downhill sports by educating children, parents and fellow skiers/snowboarders.

This program is designed to not only address several of the known risk factors for children, but contribute to an overall positive experience for families. Early research indicates the PACE program has outstanding positive influence on parents’ resort selection. By helping children to have a safe and fun experience, we hope that today’s "little penguins" will grow into safe, dedicated life-long skiers and snowboarders, who will in turn, introduce their children to downhill sports.
Keep an eye out for the little Penguin's on the slopes!

A special THANK-YOU to the Brimacombe Volunteer Ski Patrol for their assistance in implementing this program.

MARCH 16th 2013

After SNOWSMART was successfully introduced to five pilot ski hills across Canada in December, including Brimacombe, we're bringing it back by popular demand for another day during March break. Parachute has partnered with Canadian Ski Patrol and Snowboard Canada on this education campaign that tackles three risky behaviours: excessive speed, loss of control and collisions with people or objects.
The SNOWSMART team will visit Brimacombe on March 16th for another round of snow sport safety awareness. Last time, we gave out hundreds of prizes such as candies and postcards to young people caught skiing in control, through our Get Caught initiative rewarding safe skiers and snowboarders. This time, we will be handing out candies and lip balm to skiers and snowboarders taking smart risks/decisions on the hills. This follows Snowboard Ontario’s Riders event on March 15th, an intro to competitive snowboarding that has aSNOWSMART twist.

We're also reminding skiers and boarders they have until the end of the month to get their videos in to the public service announcement competition. The SNOWSMART multimedia competition is open to all Canadians. Entrants are asked to create a short snow sport safety PSA that highlights at least one of the SNOWMSART key messages for their chance to win cash prizes. The deadline for submissions is March 17, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

For more details on the campaign and multimedia competition,
