Interested in Ski Racing?

The Brimacombe Racing Club will be conducting a 3 day “Introduction to racing“ program for children ages 7 > 10 years of age; March 9th ,10th & 11th , 9AM – 2:30 PM
(this program is not for current race club members)

The goal of the Brimacombe Ski Racing Club is to provide a solid foundation and knowledge base upon which to build children’s athletic abilities and encourage the development of skiers and ski racers of all ability levels in a fun and rewarding environment. The Brimacombe Racing Club is aligned with Alpine Ontario South.
All coaches are certified by the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and many are also certified by the Canadian Ski Instructors Association. .
Benefits of our race program

Children who are physically educated feel confident and are encouraged to continue to build on these skills through competitive and recreational sport activity. They will enjoy overall health benefits by developing greater physical literacy, which encourages them to be more physically active throughout their lives. Skiing is a life-long sport that is practiced by people of every age, shape, size and level of ability. But skiing skills are not the only benefits of our ski program. In addition children will learn: Ski Safety – Listening skills – Building self confidence – Goal setting
The cost is $110.00 & the camp will include:
o 13.5 hours of instruction with a focus on ski improvement
o Training runs daily in a course set on the Standard run
o Timed runs on the final day
Note: Helmets are mandatory
 Payment is due with registration & waiver must be signed.
 Lift tickets are not included
 This is not a “learn to ski” program & assumes children have basic skills
 Coaches do not supervise children during lunch period.

PACE PENGUIN

If you are 8 years of age or younger
(or you are a parent that has kids that age)
stop by any ticket office or our Main Office in the East Chalet and pick up your PACE PENGUIN safety package for FREE!

BRIMACOMBE is pleased to be taking part in a pilot safety initiative called PACE PENGUIN.

The objective of this program is to help reduce the risk of injury to young children in downhill sports by educating children, parents and fellow skiers/snowboarders.

This program is designed to not only address several of the known risk factors for children, but contribute to an overall positive experience for families. Early research indicates the PACE program has outstanding positive influence on parents’ resort selection. By helping children to have a safe and fun experience, we hope that today’s "little penguins" will grow into safe, dedicated life-long skiers and snowboarders, who will in turn, introduce their children to downhill sports.

A special THANK-YOU to the Brimacombe Volunteer Ski Patrol for their assistance in implementing this program.

MARCH 16th 2013

After SNOWSMART was successfully introduced to five pilot ski hills across Canada in December, including Brimacombe, we're bringing it back by popular demand for another day during March break. Parachute has partnered with Canadian Ski Patrol and Snowboard Canada on this education campaign that tackles three risky behaviours: excessive speed, loss of control and collisions with people or objects.
The SNOWSMART team will visit Brimacombe on March 16th for another round of snow sport safety awareness. Last time, we gave out hundreds of prizes such as candies and postcards to young people caught skiing in control, through our Get Caught initiative rewarding safe skiers and snowboarders. This time, we will be handing out candies and lip balm to skiers and snowboarders taking smart risks/decisions on the hills. This follows Snowboard Ontario’s Riders event on March 15th, an intro to competitive snowboarding that has a SNOWSMART twist.

We're also reminding skiers and boarders they have until the end of the month to get their videos in to the public service announcement competition. The SNOWSMART multimedia competition is open to all Canadians. Entrants are asked to create a short snow sport safety PSA that highlights at least one of the SNOWMSART key messages for their chance to win cash prizes. The deadline for submissions is March 17, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

For more details on the campaign and multimedia competition,
visit www.snowsmart.ca.
